Misti Spencer writes about the hard roads and the wildflowers that grow along them. A wanderer at heart, at home in gardens, on the water, and inside a song.
In her words
I believe the things that break us can also become the soil we grow in.
I am an author, speaker and advocate, and my work draws from both lived experience and years spent walking alongside others through growth and life's harder transitions. I write about trauma, healing, identity, resilience and self-discovery, weaving honesty, insight, humor and music into stories about the experiences that shape us.
I am also a wife, mother of two, dog mom, nature lover and business owner. When I am not writing, you will likely find me barefoot in a garden, paddling somewhere quiet, or following a trail with a song in my head.
Peace, love and harmony are not a slogan to me. They are the practice I came home to.
Her debut memoir
Trafficked and groomed as a child, Misti survived years that would have unmade most people. Her memoir is the honest account of that road and the long walk back toward light, wholeness and her own name, told through the music that carried her the whole way.
Songs you already know by heart become the keys that unlock each chapter, turning private pain into something shared, understood and, finally, survivable.
Her world
Recovery was never one big moment. It was a thousand small returns to the things that make her feel alive.
Slow mornings walking gardens, learning the names of things that bloom.
Paddle-boarding and kayaking the quiet springs, where the noise finally stops.
Long walks under live oaks, one foot in front of the other, again and again.
The thread through everything. The language her healing learned to speak.
A daily practice of softness, gratitude and staying open to wonder.
Advocacy and survivor-informed work, turning her story into a hand held out.
